Do you have a university or college in your area? Will they be holding a freshers fayre this autumn? If so, order a free pack of recruitment and campaign materials from Liberal Youth now, to help you gain young members in your area and establish a local Liberal Youth branch.
To order a pack please visit our ordering website from last year at:  http://www.libdemfreshers.com/index.html.

The packs cost us over £60 to produce. We only ask for a £5 contribution towards the pack postage costs. Make sure you are making the most of our support among young people in your patch.

Discussion at The Local Government Conference 2008

Delegates for the Bournemouth Federal Conference should recently have been sent the Party’s training programme, but just to highlight some of the opportunities for Councillors in Bournemouth.

Once again we are working with our colleagues in the IDeA (Improvement and Development Agency) to bring you some very high quality training.

We have two special half day sessions (3.5 hours) to enable us to give a more detailed level of training:
- Saturday 13 September 2008 (am) - “Being an Effective Ward Councillor”
- Sunday 14 September 2008 (am) – “Successful Scrutiny – making scrutiny work for you”

Other training for Councillors in Bournemouth includes:
  • Town and Parish Councils
  • Effective Small Groups
  • Beyond Surgeries
  • Group Cohesion and Management
  • Casework
  • Running an Effective Away Day
  • Councillors Online (websites)
  • Political Support Officers.

Full details of the training programme will be circulated in September, and will be available online at the ALDC website.

Cllr Tim Pickstone and Cllr Mary ReidDates for your diaries - we have a packed campaigner training programme set for Bournemouth with 16 sessions focussing on “Essential Campaign Skills” and “Winning in 2009 and 2010".   If you are available in Bournemouth on the Saturday (13th September) you might be interested in our full day workshop on using Page Plus (the Party's recommended DTP software). This will be an interactive session – so bring your laptops!

On Saturday afternoon there is a special half day session on “Voter ID and Knocking on Doors”. Again this will be an interactive session aimed at improving how we contact voters.
