Key Events

Kickstart Weekends

Kickstart is our highly regarded residential campaign training weekend. Come along to get professional advice, training and bespoke mentoring for your team from experienced Liberal Democrat campaigners and councillors. The weekend caters for everyone; whatever your role in a campaign, and regardless of your experience. Find out more.

Councillors Weekend

Come along to improve your skills in your important Liberal Democrat councillor/campaigner roles. Enjoy a packed programme of training sessions, speakers and discussions and meet with fellow councillors from across the country. Training includes how to be an effective ward councillor, organising your casework, political influencing and much more. Find out more.

Party Conferences

We provide training for campaigners, candidates and councillors at each of the party’s conferences – Federal (Spring and Autumn), Welsh and Scottish – alongside exhibiting and running fringe events. We publish details in advance of each conference via our website and weekly emails.

Motivate Training Days

We run free virtual Motivate Training Days on Saturdays, 9.30am – 2pm, featuring campaign training and bespoke support. All Lib Dem members are welcome; you don’t have to be an ALDC member. You need to register to attend. Once registered, we will email you a link to join the meeting which we host online via Zoom. In non-pandemic times, Motivates are physical events held across Britain.

Webinars

We run free webinars each week covering topics such as agents and local party officers, Affinity Publisher and Connect. We also run webinars specially designed for Lib Dems based in Scotland and Wales. Sessions last about 45 minutes and they start at 12.30pm or 6:30pm. All Lib Dem members are welcome; you don’t have to be an ALDC member. You need to register to attend. Once registered, we will email you a link to join the meeting which we host online via Zoom.

Specialist Training Days

In non-Covid times, we deliver day-long training events across the country focussing on a specialist topic such as Affinity Publisher, Agent Training, ALDC Artworker, or Connect. A lot of these topics are covered in our weekly bitesize webinars (we’re running three sets a week at present).

Council Group Development Days

ALDC’s team of Development Officers are here to work with our Council Groups to help ensure that we continue to grow and deliver on our local councils.

Council Groups that are in ALDC Group Membership can book a facilitated development day to help you develops you council group and build skills within your team.

Please let us know at least 2 months in advance of the date you want your development day to be held, and please note that we do not run development days in the busy run up to local elections (February to May).
