Below is a quick note from ALDC’s Cllr Glyn Preston, Development Officer for Wales, who is now back at work following a sabbatical for the Senedd elections:
Hi all,
The Senedd elections were a challenging set of elections for us as a party. They were dominated by tactical voting, despite the proportional voting system, which meant that many of us were ‘squeezed-out’ by Plaid Cymru and Reform UK.
So, whilst I missed out on being a Senedd Member for Gwynedd Maldwyn, it does mean that I’m now back working at ALDC.
Next year’s local elections in Wales are an enormous opportunity for us as a party to move forward in Wales, and I’m really looking forward to getting stuck-in supporting teams across Wales to win new Council seats in 2027.
We also have a whacking-great total of 24 by-elections across Wales coming up over the next few weeks, which are a great opportunity for us to get out campaigning!
As always, if you’re in need of any campaign support or advice then please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me: glyn.preston@aldc.org / 07398 951409.
Diolch yn fawr,
Glyn
