Scottish Conference Report

ALDC had a great time at Scottish Conference and we hope that you did too if you were there.

A lot of people including both current councillors and people who hope to be elected in 2027 joined us for our Friday Fringe 150 Rising – Kickstarting our campaign to win big in 2027. We had an all star panel including Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP, Councillor Claire McLaren and a star of the future, Declan Gallacher, who we are keen to support in his bid to be elected in the Badenoch and Strathspey ward in 2027.

Alex kickstarted the fringe by outlining the vision and strategy to winning over 150 councillors in 2027. Councillor Claire McLaren then discussed her successful campaign to win the Strathtay ward in Perth and Kinross from scratch as well as her experiences of being a councillor since being elected. Declan Gallacher then went on to talk about how he got involved and stood for council last year, and his ambitions to win in 2027.

We then got onto a discussion with many questions from the audience in what was an engaging session which will hopefully inspire others to stand next time.

We also had a great time at our exhibition stall. We welcomed new members including newly elected Councillor Fiona Bennett, who joined us at Conference.

The books, including Pick a Ward and Win It, were flying off the shelves too (and indeed Pick a Ward and Win It is the perfect companion for the 150 Rising Strategy) – and if you didn’t happen to buy one there, please do so here from the ALDC website here.

Overall it was a great Scottish Conference and we look forward to seeing more people at the Federal Conference this weekend.
