ALDC want to congratulate Councillor Fiona Bennett and the entire Edinburgh Liberal Democrat team for the amazing win in Corstorphine/Murrayfield.
In a big gain from the SNP, our vote share skyrocketed to 56% of the vote – while the SNP and Conservatives both recorded enormous vote share falls.
It was a great Lib Dem campaign – with huge amounts of leaflets and direct mail being delivered as well as over 9000 voter contacts made.
The result now means we have leapfrogged Labour into second place in Edinburgh and it was also the biggest Lib Dem Council by-election result in the history of the era of the Single Transferrable Vote system.
We know Fiona is going to make a brilliant addition to the Edinburgh team.
