Government consultation on recycling – views welcome!

The Government launched its 25 Year Environment Strategy in January 2018, followed up by the Resources and Waste Strategy in December 2018.

Defra launched consultations into three key areas in February 2019 (consistency, deposit return scheme and producer responsibility) and at the same time the Treasury launched a consultation into a plastic packaging tax.

LGA Liberal Democrat Group, environment lead member, Councillor Adele Morris writes:

“This is the government’s response to the consultation on consistency in recycling, which talks about standardising what is collected and what they are thinking around food waste collections (and which is the thing that will most impact on councils).”
