“Lift the Ban” campaign

People seeking asylum in Britain are forced to live off a government stipend of £5.39 per day.

That’s because the Home Office deny them the dignity of working, leaving genuine asylum seekers facing poverty, homelessness and destitution.

The majority of those seeking asylum here in the UK have gone from victims in one country to virtual prisoners in another.

That’s why Lib Dem MP Christine Jardine has been working hard to lift the ban and end the injustice and lack of dignity caused by asylum seekers not being able to work while waiting to claim asylum.

Liberal Democrat HQ are encouraging councillors to put forward a motion demanding the right to campaign for people seeking asylum to be given the right to work unconstrained by the shortage occupation list after they have waited three months for a decision on their initial asylum claim.
