The Lib Dem Opposition on Lewes District Council have persuaded their authority that all new planning applications should include a renewable energy scheme.

I have a motion currently being considered by Full Council that on All housing developments of 10+ houses they should be orientated with a south facing roof to maximise solar gain and enable solar panels to be fitted. Orientation cost nothing and should be a matter of good design. Solar panels can be retrofitted if too expensive at build stage.
Also all new dwellings to be fitted with electric car charge point. Minimal extra cost at build stage. It will encourage homeowners to consider electric cars.
