ALDC File Library – New and Improved

As part of our 2016 website refresh, we have made some technological improvements and visual changes to the File Library. So, what has changed?

New Visual Style

We wanted to make the visual style of the File Library match our Ask ALDC advice service. When you navigate there from the Members’ section of the website, you will see that the layout is clearer and cleaner.

Opens at Templates – other folders in sidebar

The main reason that members visit the File Library is to browse our unrivalled range of artwork and literature templates, and to download material that they would like to use locally.

With this in mind, the File Library now automatically opens the templates folder. The main portion of the screen displays the different Templates folders available. The other main folders (Your Artwork, Resources, Publications, Archive), can be accessed from the sidebar on the right.

Top 5 files

As with Ask ALDC, the five top links in any category will now be displayed under the sub-heading. These five links will be the newest files to have been added to that section of the File Library, giving members the chance to see what is new in every folder at-a-glance.

.pdf preview viewer

Previously, members had to either download .pdf preview files or open them in a new browser tab. We’ve now implemented a preview facility that lets you stay on the page and see the content of any .pdf by clicking on it.

This is a significant improvement and will make it much easier to browse multiple versions of a file, or lots of different files, in order to find the best template to meet your needs.

Archived/organised

We have taken the opportunity to archive some of our material, to make the current templates and resources easier to browse.

Each folder will now have its own Archive folder, into which older material (generally, material two years old or more) will be moved. If you can’t find what you are looking for, or are looking for more inspiration from past pieces of artwork, make the Archive folder in the relevant section your next port of call!
Taken together, we want these changes to significantly improve the accessibility and ease-of-use of the File Library.
