Great News from Scotland: Lib Dem gain from SNP!

Well done to our Highland campaign team, who pulled off the greatest Lib Dem result of this week’s by-elections with a gain from the SNP in the Aird and Loch Ness ward.

Winning the first-preferences by 29 votes and then going on to take the seat, the result is a real shot in the arm for our Scottish by-election teams and the party in general. Congratulations to Jean Davies and everyone involved in this great campaign!

Elsewhere: mixed result in Woking

Two Lib Dem seats were up for election in Woking on Oct 8th, but sadly we only came away with one of them. The Conservatives pipped us to the post in Goldsworth West by 18 votes, whilst James Sanderson and the Goldsworth East Focus Team increased our vote share by nearly 14% and held the seat.

State of Play since May 8th:

Woking is our second by-election loss, which offsets against Aird and Loch Ness to leave us on a total of ten net gains across all councils since May 8th. The Goldsworth East result is the tenth successful Lib Dem hold in that period.
