Cornwall Fights Back – Triple Win In Launceston

Great news from Launceston, where the Cornwall Liberal Democrats convincingly held both the principal council seat and both Town Council seats. The by-elections were caused by controversial events leading to the resignation of Cllr Alex Folkes.

In the resulting election to Cornwall’s unitary authority, Gemma Massey held the seat with sixty-three per cent of the vote. The two Town Council seats were won by Paula Bullen and Kirk Denton, who took seventy per cent of the vote between them.

ALDC used the Fighting Fund to invest in two sessions of calling from the Manchester Phone Bank in the fortnight leading up to the election. It was clear from the get-go that Gemma and her team had significant local support, both phone banks were very positive and gave some new members a great introduction to using the phones in local elections.

Congratulations to Gemma, Paula, Kirk, the Launceston team, and Cornwall Liberal Democrats for starting 2016 with a great win!
