ALDC’s AGM will take place in person at Autumn Conference. As always all ALDC members are welcome and encouraged to attend. There will be refreshment drinks and the event will also include the 2026 Local Campaigner Awards in which we celebrate the best Lib Dem local government achievements of the past year. The Local Campaigner Awards are sponsored by Election Workshop.

LGA Lib Dems reception. All friends of Local Government welcome! With Ed Davey MP and Cllr Bridget Smith, LGA Lib Dem Group Leader.

ALDC has an amazing training offer at conference this year. We have sessions on campaigning and being a great councillor. We also have 5 Lib Dems in Action panels in which you can hear from panels of experienced Lib Dems speaking on making a difference in local government in areas such as housing, the environment, town and parish councils, working in no overall control and becoming a unitary authority.

We are pleased to say that ALDC is proposing a motion to conference – F14 Policy Motion: Local Candidate Safety.

It will be debated on Saturday 19 September at 17:30 to 18:00 – right before the conference rally.

This ALDC motion will be moved by Lisa Smart MP and summarised by Zoe Franklin MP. We would encourage all ALDC members to attend this debate and to support the motion.

  • You can find a full copy of the motion here
  • The full agenda of motions at conference can be found here

You can find ALDC staff at our stall in the exhibition area throughout conference. We will be on hand to answer any questions, provide advice and we will have plenty of resources for sale including books, MP top trump cards and tickets for Lib Dem Disco.

Our stall will be at stand 27 alongside the LGA Liberal Democrat group.
