Below is a message from Liberal Democrat HQ regarding what questions and scripts to use for the 2027 local elections:
We are going to be switching to a new cycle for questions in anticipation of the 2027 Local Elections. 2027 versions of national questions have now been made and shared with your committees. Similarly, National Scripts, Report Formats, and MiniVAN Campaigns have been updated to 2027 with the new questions
As a result of this we ask that local parties undertake the following:
- Unless you are in the middle of a by-election campaign, please update any local scripts & forms that are currently in use to include 2027 questions in place of 2026 ones.
- Please update all local questions to be in the 2027 cycle. This unfortunately requires fully recreating questions from scratch with 2027 as the year. The only exceptions are questions that were created very recently (i.e. the last month or two), or questions with no existing data on them. For those you can just change the year on the existing question. I know this is very tedious, but it is important to do this as it ensures that data feeds into our modelling and target pools correctly. And if any questions you are looking to create require canvass analysis points to be added, or a mapping to a master question, please contact connect@libdems.org.uk so that we can sort that.
- Please start creating any future questions and scripts in the 2027 cycle.
- We strongly recommend using this as an opportunity to check on your volunteers with the new 2027 Volunteer questions. It is good practice to make sure people marked as local volunteers on Connect are still interested in volunteering on at least a yearly basis
This is also a good time to audit Connect access within your local party, as some users may have been given access for the elections that they no longer need. As a reminder, users should not be given access to Connect beyond what they strictly need. If users do not still need their level of Connect access, it should be reduced or their accounts set to inactive. It is easy to reverse that if necessary in the future.
