Councillor Howard Sykes, LGA Liberal Democrat Group Leader, said: “This was a pointless speech for a pointless Prime Minister with no mandate. It also dragged a 93 year old pensioner out in the pouring rain to deliver a “Queen Speech” which is nothing more than the Conservative manifesto for the next general election. A warning to Mr Johnson: “the road to hell is littered with good intentions”. The Queens speech has a lot of “good intentions and sound bites” , but I am sorry to spoil the party – it hasn’t a hope in hell of being delivered and the country will see right through you”.
