RESOURCES: Christmas card templates 2017

It’s that time again… It may seem a long way away but Christmas cards need to be on your priority list over the next few weeks. We are releasing this year’s template this week to ensure you have time to print and stuff them.

Many Liberal Democrats send Christmas cards to every house in their ward. These are a good opportunity to remind people that you are there all year round, without a heavy political message.

It is best practice for local parties to insert a personal letter usually from the future local candidate or prominent campaigner. In the context of a Christmas card, it’s best to keep the content light and personal – no ‘hard’ politics, but a word about how you will be celebrating and your thanks and best wishes to those who work hard in our local community.

Christmas cards should be stuffed into blank envelopes, it is not unusual at this time of year for an unaddressed card to come through your door from a neighbour. So this will not seem strange to people.

To make the most out of your Christmas card delivery it is normal to have yours printed professionally in full colour, whilst getting your letter printed on a Riso so it can be written later on, closer to the festive season.

It’s often better to choose a localised photo for extra interest. There are two common ways of doing this: use a local photo from a photographer (see this example from Hazel Grove Constituency) or by doing a local school competition to draw the front of your card (see this great old guide from LDHQ).

Christmas card letters

Many local parties include a handwritten note in their cards. These are usually double sided A5 and printed on a Risograph printer (rather than professional print). We are also offering these at a specially reduced rate for the bulk buy. ALDC have examples (above) in the File Library and a template, but feel free to email enquiries@electionworkshop.co.uk if you need any help.

Paper colour / price per thousand:

  • White / £8.50 was £9.50
  • Blue or cream / £10 was £13

These will usually be delivered with the envelopes for no additional charge. Orders without envelopes or not on a pallet will mean a per box charge of £10 per 10,000.

Lorna Dupré says

(1) Are the quoted prices for the cards exclusive of VAT (ie do we need to add 20 per cent to the above)?

(2) Are the prices for single versions? eg if I wanted four different versions of 5,000 would I need to pay £199*4=£796 rather than £585?

(3) The PDF file of the cards is over 110Mb and takes an age to download!

Thank you.
