Members visiting our aldc.org will see some significant changes, as we have launched our updated website.

We have rebuilt the front end of our website, which has enabled us to resolve some long-running technical issues and improve our service to members. This new site also makes it easier than ever to access, search and browse our File Library and Ask ALDC advice service – two substantial improvements that we hope will help you find what you need quickly and smoothly every time you visit.

Another important driver for change has been the need for websites to work effectively on smartphones and tablets, which this new website does really well.

Logging in

To log in, simply scroll to the very bottom of the screen or click on the ‘Members’ option in the top menu.

Important: In order to link your record to our new membership database, all members will need to register the first time they visit the new site.

There is an option to register (using your ALDC membership number and registered email address) and choose your own password. Please follow the instructions beneath the login prompt to register.

This is to improve security (the ALDC membership number is only a 5 digit password and not very secure) and also enables you to use any password you wish (and update it when you want to).

Dashboard

Once you have logged in, the first place to visit is your Dashboard. From the menu at the top of the page, click on ‘Members’ to be taken there.

On the Dashboard page, you can:

  • browse the Ask ALDC advice service
  • contact an ALDC officer using the Ask ALDC contact form
  • browse every folder inside our File Library
  • search for specific files in the File Library
  • see a summary of the latest stories to be published on our MyCouncillor network
  • manage your ALDC membership using our secure online form

This brings a number of ALDC’s major services all onto one page, for you to use and explore at your convenience.

Do take a look at the ‘Manage my Membership’ section – this is where you can amend you address or contact details or set up services like MyCoucnillor or Connect Casework.

Blog Page

On the old ALDC website, our published web stories were split between our public and members-only areas. We have now merged the former six different pages of content into a single Blog page (accessed by clicking ‘Blog’ on the top menu).

Individual posts are either public or members-only and, if you are not logged in, you will be prompted to do so any time you try to access a restricted post.

This way, people only have to look in one place to find all of the latest articles added to aldc.org, but at the same time, our members will still have the benefit of accessing exclusive campaigning material.

‘More’ Features

The ‘More’ option in the top menu contains the following features:

About – find out who’s who in ALDC, how to get in touch and where to find us

Events – a link to our Events page with options for registering and buying tickets

Elections – our comprehensive online listing of forthcoming local authority by-elections and by-election results

Facebook Page – visit our promotional page on Facebook to learn more about our work and upcoming events, as well as a selection of MyCllr stories from our members

Photos – visit ALDC’s Flickr site to find photos of ALDC events going back decades!
The ‘Join’ and ‘Donate’ options on the top menu are self-explanatory, but the above should cover the new location of everything members will want to find on the ALDC website.

If you encounter any difficulties with the new layout, please drop me a line and I will be happy to help.

We hope that you enjoy the new website!

Hi, I have used the by election news service for some time to keep up with results back home (I used to be and active liberal for many years before moving to Sweden). Sadly with the demise of LIbDem news this has become more important to me recently.
I hope that I can continue to access this information in future as I can not do this today as I just get sent here.

OK I found the results page. Thanks

I also looked forward to receiving the Liberal News and had to resort using the ALDC site to look up election reults, I found this new site very confusing to find results.
Whilst I would like to join ALDC as a parish councillor unlike other Councillors we do not get expenses, I am out of pocket to do the job properly so unable to find the extra money to join ALDC.
its a shame that Parish Councillors do not get a reduced rate.
