Inside ALDC / Scotland
ASLDC (The Association of Scottish Liberal Democrat Councillors) is a network of Liberal Democrat councillors and local campaigners across Scotland. It works to support and develop Liberal Democrat involvement in Scottish Local Government. Scottish Liberal Democrats have long campaigned for fair votes for local elections. Following the historic elections of May 2007, under the Single Transferable Vote (STV) system, 166 Liberal Democrats were elected to Scotland's Councils.
Scottish Liberal Democrats are now involved in the administration of 13 of Scotland's 32 councils – more than ever before - leading administrations in Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
A voluntary Executive Committee meets several times a year to run the organisation.
Office-Bearers:
Chair: Cllr Willie Wilson (Perth and Kinross Council)
Vice-Chair: John Morrison (East Dunbartonshire)
Secretary: Cllr Margaret Kennedy (Fife Council)
Treasurer: Simon Hutton (Inverclyde)
On a day to day basis ASLDC is staffed by Derek Barrie, Scottish Council Support Officer (derek.barrie@aldc.org.uk).
ASLDC works alongside Liberal Democrats in the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (CoSLA) where Neil Fletcher serves as Vice-President and Kate Dean leads the Lib Dem Group and (both Aberdeen City Councillors).
