At ALDC we love to share best practice from Lib Dem local parties from across Britain.
The best examples of campaigning and community representation come from you – and it’s great to inspire others with your stories of what you have done in your local area.
This year we want to share great examples you have of community campaigning, engagement with under-represented groups and increasing democratic participation. We would love to hear from you.
Examples of stories we would like to share could be:
- Improving community cohesion.
- Involving local residents in the democratic process (for instance planning applications, petitions on local issues etc).
- Initiatives to increase turnout amongst low-voting communities (for instance postal vote recruitment).
- Working with ethnic minority communities.
- Setting up residents associations, neighbourhood networks, friends-of groups etc.
- Drawing council decision-making and funds down to a community level.
- Empowering residents to take the lead in community projects (for instance litter-picking groups, asset transfers, community allotments etc)
This is just a small list of examples. You probably have many more.
Please get in touch with us at info@aldc.org if you would like to share your successes!
