With the biggest local elections of this cycle coming up in 2027, ALDC’s signature training weekend Kickstart is back in June and November this year. We bring together the party’s most experienced and successful campaigners to train campaign teams from across the country.

Kickstart is the Lib Dem’s most successful training weekend. It offers a unique experience where you and your local team receive bespoke mentoring to help you meet your challenges. Teams from across the country who attend our Kickstart weekends often go on to have great results in their next local elections.
The Councillors Weekend runs over the same weekend in June. It offers specialist training to help you improve your skills as a councillor and retain your council seat with training, panel discussions and networking opportunities.
The weekend provides 30+ hours of training, plenary discussions and mentoring across both the Kickstart and Councillor Weekend work streams. As well as accommodation and fantastic meals. The full Kickstart Agenda is below (click image to enlarge).

Bookings are also open for November’s Kickstart weekend, and our Agent’s weekend which takes place alongside it.
The Agents Weekend provides practical knowledge, confidence, and clear guidance on the responsibilities of the Agent role, focusing on large-area election agents while remaining equally relevant to local agents. Participants who attend the course and successfully pass the assessment will now be recorded on Lighthouse as qualified local agents, recognising their achievement and readiness to support election campaigns effectively.
