We are delighted that ALDC is able to once again offer the Future Leaders training weekend at our Summer Kickstart residential.
Future Leaders is a programme for Liberal Democrats from an ethnic minority background who want to move forwards in their political careers within the Party at any level. The weekend is led by experienced mentors and provides space for discussion and reflection along with training and networking opportunities.
There are 40 places available for this programme at our flagship training weekend Kickstart which takes places on the weekend of 26-28 June 2026. Thanks to our funders the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust and the Lib Dem G8 fund, we are able to offer some fully subsidised places, but if you are able to pay the £210 to attend the weekend, please let us know on your application. If you are able to pay, this will enable use to offer more fully subsidised places.
This programme is open to any member of the Liberal Democrats – existing councillors, aspiring candidates and people who just want to get more involved in the party. So, if you are a community campaigner who wants to see real change in your area, or if you want to stand for Parliament, or maybe you just want to find out more about a career in politics – apply now.
The process is competitive and the closing date to apply is Friday 15 May 2026.
The Kickstart weekend takes place at Yarnfield Park, Staffordshire on the weekend of 26-28 June 2026. If you are successful your meals, accommodation, training and mentoring are all included. We can also help with travel costs. You can find out more about Kickstart here.
