The Flintshire Liberal Democrats found the recent Welsh Kickstart weekend to be an invaluable experience, helping us sharpen our focus on the challenges and opportunities ahead. With the 2026 Senedd elections and the 2027 county council elections firmly on the horizon, the programme provided the perfect setting to reflect on our ambitions and map out the practical steps needed to achieve further success.

One of the greatest strengths of the weekend was the way it brought our team closer together. Spending time working intensively on campaign planning, supported by the expertise of ALDC facilitators, allowed us to bond even more as a group. The action plan we developed will serve as a clear roadmap for the coming months, ensuring that our efforts remain targeted and effective.

The organisation of the event was excellent, with every detail carefully thought through. The facilities were first‑rate, creating an environment conducive to learning, collaboration, and strategic thinking. Importantly, the subsidised rate made the weekend outstanding value, ensuring that local parties like ours could benefit fully without financial strain.

Beyond the training and mentoring, the opportunity to connect with fellow Liberal Democrats from across the UK was a highlight. We exchanged ideas, learned from the successes of others, and shared our own experiences from Flintshire. These connections will continue to inspire and inform our campaigning as we move forward.

We would thoroughly recommend the Kickstart weekend to anyone serious about achieving electoral success. It equips campaigners with the tools, confidence, and networks needed to elect more Liberal Democrats. In doing so, we strengthen our ability to counter extremism and contribute to making our country a better, fairer place.
