A new version of Affinity Publisher – the desktop publishing tool the party uses for leaflet design – has been released.
And there is good news – it is now free for everyone.
You can get it here on the Affinity website. You will need to set up a free Canva account.
There are some advanced AI tools that sit behind a paywall, but everything needed for leaflet design is included in the free version.
The new version can still open files from versions 1 and 2 of Affinity. Anything created or edited in the new version won’t open in the older ones.
You can have both the new, and older, versions of Affinity downloaded on your desktop to use at the same time.
The Liberal Democrats will continue to produce templates in the oldest version of Affinity until May 2026. After that, we’ll move across to the new version.
As this new version is free – and very similar to previous versions – we’re encouraging anyone who artworks leaflets to download the new version of Affinity and to begin using it.
ALDC and the Lib Dem Campaigns and Elections team will continue to offer training on Affinity Publisher, and training will be provided on the new version once templates begin to be produced using it in May.
