The end of Summer is often a good time to contact new voters in your community. If you have a large student population in your ward there will be a big churn as new students move in prior to the start of term. August is also the most popular month for people to move house!
ALDC has a New Voters Campaign Pack full of resources that you can use to welcome new residents to your ward. The best way to do this is an addressed letter with a survey included.
You can find details of new additions to the electoral register on Connect. If you are an elected councillor your electoral services department may also make new additions to the register available to you on a month to month basis. This is very useful information to request.
The campaign pack contains a number of different letters and surveys aimed at different communities and the issues they face – such as new build estates, transient urban areas, high rise flats where there is likely to be a high turnover of voters.
