The Categories
Best local election campaign – May’s local elections were another massive step forwards – we took full control of new councils, became the largest party and formed administrations in new councils and moved forwards in 18 of the 23 councils holding elections! We now run more councils than the Conservatives and Reform UK combined. We also held out own in defences against Reform UK, where Labour and Conservative wards tumbled one after another. We fought so many amazing local campaigns – and we want to hear how you did it! Tell us about your winning strategy. What was your killer message? What innovative new ideas did you use? What great literature did you deliver? Did you develop a digital strategy and run a successful online campaign? How did you raise the funds to support your campaign?
Best by-election campaign – Have you fought a great council by-election campaign since our last Autumn Conference? We’d love to hear your story. We continue to deliver incredible by-election results week in / week out. In June alone we had a net gain of 4 principal council seats because of by-election wins. Often coming from very far behind to win or finish a close second. Performing brilliantly in by-elections is just what Liberal Democrats do. Let us know how you achieved your brilliant results this year.
Best literature – Has your local party produced an outstanding literature in the past year. Has your literature helped you towards a great local election result, or delivered success on a big local issue? We want to celebrate your best leaflets. These can relate to a single campaign or just be consistently excellent literature delivered throughout the year. Send us your examples.
Best councillor achievement – We want to celebrate the success of great community champion councillors. Have you run an inspiring community campaign? Have you managed to get your council to change its mind? Have you campaigned with local residents to benefit your area? Have you found innovative ways to reach and engage people. Please nominate either yourself or a colleague who has made a difference in the past year.
President’s awards – There will also be some special awards given out at the ceremony to celebrate great achievements that go above and beyond in the pursuit of Liberal Democrat success over many years of service to the party. If you know a person or team who deserves special recognition in this category, please let us know why.
