UPDATED: LGiU Cllr Achievement Awards – Final Week!
The LGiU-CCLA C’llr Awards nominations period closes this week, on Friday 17th January 2014. Here are the details:

“The LGiU and CCLA are pleased to announce that the deadline for nominations for the 2014 Annual C’llr Achievement Awards has been extended to Friday 17th January 2014 due to popular demand.

Local residents now have an extra two weeks to send in their submissions for a star councillor from their neighbourhood.

Back for a fifth year, the LGiU and CCLA C’llr Achievement Awards are the only national awards ceremony to recognise and reward the outstanding work of councillors from across the political spectrum. This year, there will be a total of 11 different awards on offer at the 2014 ceremony. These include the Community Champion Award, the Age UK Award, the all- new Digital Innovator Award and the Bruce-Lockhart Member Scholarship. The latter includes a £10,000 bursary, supported by Kent, Essex, and East Sussex councils.

Jonathan Carr-West, Chief Executive of the LGiU, commented:

“Councillors play a vital role in championing the interests of their communities, but all too often we can overlook their contributions. The Awards provide a brilliant opportunity to celebrate the fantastic work of councillors from across the country.

“Everyone and anyone can make a nomination. We are really keen to hear from members of the public as we are eager for the voices of ordinary people to be heard. If you know an inspirational local councillor, please do consider nominating them for an Award.”

“We know that Christmas is a very busy time for everyone so we do hope the extra two weeks will mean that everyone has a chance to nominate a local councillor from their area who goes above and beyond the call of duty.”

The 2014 C’llr Awards are free to enter. Further information on how to do this, and copies of the nomination forms are available at www.lgiu.org.uk/cllrawards.

The closing date for all entries is Friday 17th January 2014 at 5pm, so if you know a councillor who has really gone above-and-beyond this year in terms of serving their community, then please get online and get nominating!”
