Developing Future Campaigners Appeal – thanks for your support so far!

One fortnight into our fundraising project, fifteen ALDC members and supporters have donated £615 towards our campaign to help finance two Campaigns and Communications Internships at ALDC.

Our thanks to everyone who has supported this project so far, and if you would like to find out more about the project, please visit our Crowdfunder page.

The job adverts for the internships themselves can be found on the ALDC website and the work4mp website. If you know anyone who may be interested, let them know.

The Programme Works!

Last year, we gave two young party members the opportunity to develop their local campaigning skills ‘on the ground’ whilst building up their professional experience by working at ALDC HQ here in Manchester.

Both Interns, Ellie Hudspith and Michael Powell, were able to experience campaigning in successful local elections (taking council seats from Labour in Greater Manchester, no less!) and are continuing to play valuable roles in the party. Ellie has also gone on to win a permanent role campaigning with CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale), and Michael has been selected to fight a target ward (again, challenging Labour) at next May’s local elections in Bury.

These two success stories show how an investment into the early career of Liberal Democrat campaigners can pay dividends both for the individuals themselves and for our party. This year, ALDC are asking our members and supporters to help put our internships on a more sustainable, and hopefully permanent, basis by making a financial contribution via Crowdfunder.

If you can help in any way, please visit the project page.

Thank you again to everyone who has helped get our appeal off to such a great start.
