Empowering local communities: Local People Taking Power!
Speakers: Baroness Liz Barker (Lords Spokesperson for Voluntary Sector), Alexandra Runswick (Unlock Democracy) and Cllr Hazel Williams (National Association of Local Councils).
Hermitage, Clifton Suite, 19:45-21:00
There will be a ballot to decide which emergency motions are discussed at conference. Votes can be cast in the conference hall on Sunday 20 September between 09:00-12:00 (noon).
If you are a voting member, please support the ALDC-LGA Lib Dem Group motion on public health and social care costs. This is a vital topic to all of our communities and deserves a full debate and Conference’s support.
Exhibition Stand: Liberal Democrats in Local Government
As always, our friends at the LGA Liberal Democrat Group will be sharing a stand with ALDC, making it the home of Liberal Democrats in local government at Bournemouth. Come by to say hi, find out more about each organisation’s work, or to discuss your local political circumstances with experienced political officers.
The LGA’s national advice peers, Cllrs Howard Sykes (Oldham) and Alan Connett (Teignbridge) will be available for political advice. Please stop by the stand and speak to a member of the LGA Lib Dems team to arrange an appointment.
ALDC officers are also available for advice. Drop by and ask any staff member to arrange a discussion:
John Bridges and Claire Halliwell: campaign ideas, artwork, By-election HQ
Craig Whittall and James Baker: MyCouncillor sites, online communications
Neil Fawcett, Richard Cole, and James Baker: Local campaigns advice
Anders Hanson: G8 grants, Fighting Fund
Emma Hall: ALDC membership, group membership enquiries, events
Safe travels to all making the journey to Bournemouth, we hope to see you there!
