On Wednesday 27th August the LGA Liberal Democrat Group are organising a LGA specialist Conference Seminar on Culture, Tourism and Sport for Liberal Democrat councillors.
This is the best place for all those who are involved to discuss key tourism and culture issues in the Olympic year – controversial and powerful these topics will get a real airing amongst fellow elected Liberal Democrats. This looks to be one of the best conference available this year – this email is to urge you to book yourself in.
The conference is in the World Heritage City of Bath that will enable us to discuss relevent topics with on hand illustrations, learn lessons where appropriate and also include the local MP and Liberal Democrat front-bench spokesperson Don Foster MP. Topics to be covered will be as varied as licensing, libraries, use of culture and history within a community, sport and leisure as well as the wider national debates on funding. This will be a real chance to influence the national perspective and discuss this with the front bench team in parliament as well as your national team in local government Cllrs Chris White, Paul Massey, Alan Gloak and Paul Crossley.
There will be an overnight option on Tuesday 26th August and we will have an appropriate function that evening to welcome delegates, so please do indicate when you book if you would like details of the hotel arrangements. It is expected that the hotel will be approximately £80. Confirmation will be available this week.
This is an LGA activity and our experience of the last three years is that local authorities have been able to support councillors registration (£25), travel and hotel costs. If you encounter any difficulty on this please do contact this office.
Registrations should be booked via email to Evelyn Mark on email@example.com and we will then email back an invoice. Please do BOOK TODAY.
