-2010 Local Elections Training

We’ve got FOUR half day sessions which are a MUST for people hoping to win in the 2010 local elections. 

Two sessions in the morning focus on campaign challenges – capacity and team building, and “two elections, one polling day’ (the session called “look out for the bird!”. 

Two sessions in the morning focus on campaign planning – Winning Big for areas with major parliamentary campaigns, Bucking the Trend for other areas.

-ALDC AGM and Campaigner Awards 2009

Ros Scott presents the first “Campaigner Awards” at the ALDC AGM with prizes of #1000 going to celebrate local campaign success and innovation. 


Sunday 20 September 2009

-It’s the “Winning in 2010” day at the ALDC stand launched by Local Elections Campaign Chair Andrew Stunell MP. Find out more how ALDC can help you win in 2010. 

-Be a Councillor: recruiting MORE and BETTER candidates for your council elections. What do the new English Party rules mean for you and your council? 

Wessex Hotel 1pm.

-ALDC Members Reception with Nick Clegg MP and Vince Cable MP and kind support from The co-operative. ALDC members only – food and drink.

-Start of eight IDeA and ALDC Councillor Skills Training sessions on issues from credit crunch to culture, health scrutiny to member development. All top level Party and IDeA trainers. 

-A new ALDC training module focusing on ways for new and backbench councillors to be heard and on how to interpret different types of behaviour they may come across in their role. The session is especially aimed at the issues affecting women, but is open to all interested in the area of gender difference and assertive behaviour

-GMITA and ALDC Transport fringe 20.00 with Norman Baker MP. 


Monday 21 September 2009

-It’s the “Effective Lib Dem Councillor Day” at the ALDC stand launched by Ros Scott. Come and tell us why you’re an effective councillor? Five minute training taster sessions on the hour, every hour. 

-ALDC’s Environment fringe – 20.00 with Simon Hughes MP. 

-Campaign Essentials Training continues (Sunday – Tuesday all morning). Sessions aimed at getting you started in Lib Dem campaigning – all welcome. 

- THE Local Government Reception – 22.00 until LATE. Rapidly becoming the event of the Conference calendar!


Tuesday 22 September 2009

-It’s the “MyCouncillor” day at the ALDC stand launched by Julia Goldsworthy MP. We’ll set up a website while-you-wait and advice for existing users. 

-Be a Councillor Training for trainers. Learn how to deliver this very successful programme from the people who devised it

-Local Council, Local Parliament,  more and more residents expect their council to work for them with their best interest so why won;t Government give them the powers they need? . 

-  Next Generation Reception,  up-and-coming, the voice of the future, or the Group Leader in waiting - this is the place to be if you are able, ambitious and elected... 

-ALDC Fighting the Far Right fringe with Chris Davies MEP - 20.00.
