Neil Trafford

All of us at ALDC have been saddened and shocked by the news that Neil Trafford was killed in a motorway accident on Sunday.

Neil worked at ALDC for just over three years from 2000-2003 as our Information and Conferences Officer. Since then we continued to work closely with Neil in his role as Regional Campaigns Officer for the North West Region and a Councillor on Manchester City Council.

All of us involved in ALDC have very fond memories of Neil and the energy that he brought to his work and to the cause of liberalism. Both the present day team at ALDC, and those who worked alongside Neil will miss him terribly. Our thoughts are with Neil's family, loved ones and colleagues at this difficult time.

More details are in this Manchester Evening News article. When we have further details of funeral arrangements we will make these available.

Congratulations Ros

Congratulations to our new Party President (Baroness) Ros Scott.

Ros was elected earlier in the week with a stunning 72% of the vote of Party members. Ros has been an excellent friend of Liberal Democrats in local government. Not only was Ros a Councillor herself in Suffolk for many years, but more recently she spoke for the Party on Communities and Local Government in the House of Lords.

Well done Ros, all of us at ALDC look forward to working with you.
